Pastera Direct Primary Care is a membership-based practice for adults in Arcadia, Pasadena, and the San Gabriel Valley, led by board-certified internist Dr. Trang Eng.
Pastera was founded on a simple frustration: the traditional insurance model forces physicians to see too many patients, too quickly, to keep a practice afloat. We built something different.
We named the practice Pastera — a nod to a past era of medicine: an exit out of the rushed, transactional modern healthcare system, and back to something more human. A breath of fresh air, and a return to what primary care was always supposed to be.

After more than a decade practicing medicine within the insurance system, I'm starting a direct primary care practice built around a simple philosophy: healthcare should feel like a trusted partnership, not a transaction.
In my traditional practice, I watched visits get shorter every year while access got more difficult. Direct primary care allows me to change that dynamic entirely. Without an insurance company or medical group standing between us, I can care for a smaller group of patients, take the time to understand the whole picture, and have the bandwidth to care for you promptly.

Outside the office, I'm a wife and mother to two teenagers (!) and love to travel, eat, and snowboard. I've also just taken up sewing and would love to learn woodworking soon!
